Eight speed transmission keeps the high-revving engine in the right zone while well-bolstered seats reminds drivers the IS F is not cruiser like the rest of the line. Yet the car is not bruising to drive; it is a Lexus, after all. This includes gas mileage: the IS F delivers a respectable 16 mpg city and 23 mpg on the highway.Starting price for the Lexus IS F is a cool $56,000. Click to read more

Aston Martin DB9

The Aston Martin DB9, is a Grand tourer launched by the Aston Martin company in 2004. This was the first new car to be built at Aston's new Gaydon facility. The "DB" part of the name comes from David Brown, the owner of Aston Martin for a large part of its history. This model, the Aston Martin DB9, was designed by Ian Callum and finished by his successor, Henrik Fisker, was meant to supersede the now-discontinued Aston Martin DB7, which started production in 1994.You can have the Aston Martin DB9 in two versions. The coupe and the "Volante" convertible, each boasting a 450 bhp, 6.0 litre V12, which has been lifted straight out of the V12 Vanquish and seems to have lost 10 bhp along the way. People say that Aston Martin believed that this car was such a quantum leap from the DB7 that they named it DB9 instead of DB8, as it was that much better than the DB7. As of 2004 production was said to be up to five thousand units a year which is roughly the same as its closest rivals, the Ferrari 360 Modena and Porsche 911 Turbo.
In 2006, Aston Martin introduced a "Sports Pack" which includes increased structural stiffness, lighter forged aluminum wheels, lower (by 6mm) ride height, revised spring and damepr rates and the like. The upgrades address the criticisms to the car as expressed by some automotive journals, in particular the UKs Evo Magazine

Brabus Bullit

The brand new Brabus Bullit is the 'Ultimate Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing' with its massive V12 Biturbo Engine, producing a brain tingling 720bhp (730 PS) of brute power, and a tire shredding 974 lb-ft (1,320 Nm) of torque (which they have had to limit electronically to 1,100 Nm (811 lb-ft) for fear of popping your tires every morning setting off for work) which gives the Brabus a top speed of more than 360 km/h (224 mph) Over the past thirty years Brabus has have become extremely good at shoehorning large and extremely powerful engines into the much smaller cars. This path led to numerous world records for Brabus and entries into the Guinness Book of World Records. The all-new Brabus Bullit, is built in small-series production based on the new Mercedes C-Class sedan, to celebrate its world debut at the IAA 2007 as the ultimate wolf in sheep’s clothing.

Bugatti Veyron

Bugatti Veyron
The Veyron may be the ultimate exotic sports car. It is a 1,001-horsepower, $1.2 million super sports car that can reach a top speed of 252 mph in refined elegance. The 16-cylinder Veyron crushes many traditional automotive standards and receives its North American production premiere in Los Angeles.
The production Veyron was shown for the first time on October 19, 2005 at the Tokyo Motor Show. The official United States launch for the production version occurred at the 2006 Los Angeles International Auto Show in January. Visual differences between the prototype and production Veyrons are slight, but noticeable marks include the addition of marker lights or reflectors on the front fenders and a more pronounced "dorsal spine" on the hood (reminiscent of the Bugatti Atlantic), especially near the windshield.
According to the UK magazine Autocar, Volkswagen has officially unveiled the production version of the car (though the first units have yet to be offered for sale to the public) and published the final results of its in-house testing. Complete performance figures have not yet been independently verified, though the top speed of 253 mph (407 km/h) was experienced by Car and Driver.
The 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) time has been announced as 2.5 seconds and the car has been measured at a two-way average top speed of 407.08 km/h (252.95 mph) at the Volkswagen Ehra Lessien test track in Germany.
The final curb-weight of the car is said to be 4,162 lb (1,888 kg) with the power output rumoured to be still at the 1,001 PS (736 kW) level originally promised; it has been said that to ensure the desired top speed, the engine generates around 5-7% more power than this figure. The somewhat better than expected power-to-weight ratio may account for the increased performance figures over early prototype versions.
Six Veyrons were sold at the 2005 Dubai Motor Show in December, reportedly including the demonstration models used on the stands there. These would be the first reported private sales of the car.[2] Reports also indicate that deposits have been taken on 45 Veyrons as of December.
With its notorious production delays finally over, Forbes reports that the Bugatti's Veyron is now on sale in Europe--and the company wants to bring it to the U.S.

Ferrari F430

The Ferrari F430 signals the arrival of a brand new generation of Ferrari 8-cylinder models. This new car takes Ferrari’s extraordinary achievements with aluminium technology, begun with the 360 Modena, to a whole new level, and offers a series of extremely significant innovations directly derived from the Ferrari Formula 1 single-seaters.Two of these innovations are world firsts for production cars: the electronic differential (E-Diff) and the steering wheel-mounted switch (better known to the Formula 1 Scuderia’s drivers as "manettino"), which manages the integrated systems governing vehicle dynamics. The other main characteristics of the new Ferrari F430 are its light, compact 4,300 cc 90° V8 engine, which punches out 490 hp to achieve a specific output of 114 hp/litre, also providing the new Ferrari berlinetta with a weight-to-power ratio of 2.8 kg/hp (dry weight); a braking system with carbon-ceramic discs for optimal efficiency under extreme use (optional); a Formula 1-derived gearbox that cuts gear shifting times down to 150 milliseconds allowing the driver to make the very most of this truly high performance car (0-62 mph acceleration in 4 seconds flat, a top speed in excess of 196 mph) and an aerodynamic design that embodies the very latest competition technologies, specifically the flat underbody and large rear diffuser to increase downforce. The car was officially presented during the Paris Motor show in September 2004.

Koenigsegg CCXR Edition - The First 'Green' Supercar

The CCXR from Koenigsegg will take you to an entirely new level of performance. It is a derivative of the CCX, with a highly modified engine that can run on E85 and E100 Biofuel as well as normal 98 octane petrol (Europe). When run on regular petrol, the 4.7 litre twin-supercharged Koenigsegg engine delivers 806 Bhp, but this figure rises to an astonishing 1018 Bhp when the car is run on E85 Biofuel. The CCXR is the first green supercar in the world and thereby sets a great example for others to follow. Since the ethanol in E85 fuel has a much higher octane rating and internal cooling capacity, the engine can run with higher compression, boost pressure and more spark advance compared to the normal petrol-fuelled CCX, whilst still maintaining the same exhaust temperature.

SSC - Ultimate Aero

SSC - Ultimate Aero
The latest high performance variant of the SSC Aero made its debut at the 2005 Concorso Italiano in Monterey, CA. The car was specifically created to challenge the 250 mph barrier, and with recent top speed attempts by Koenigsegg and Bugatti, the car will have to achieve that number if it wants to hold the title of 'World's Fastest Production Car'. Following the creation of the 787 horsepower 'Standard' Aero, the Ultimate version features enhanced body work with improved downforce at higher speed, as well as a more powerful version of the supercharged V8 engine in the standard car. An increase in boost, a modified cam, and an upgraded fuel delivery system help the engine make over 1,000 hp, topping the Bugatti Veyron. The car is also lighter by 200 pounds due to lightweight materials. The bodywork alone weighs under 150 lbs. The visual differences can mostly be seen in the rear of the car, which is sloped behind the cockpit and ends in a small spoiler. Using the testing in the windtunnel, the 250 mph should be achievable if a suitable track can be found. High speed test runs are planned for later this year.
Car maker SCC plan to prove their Aero can beat the 250 mph mark. SSC has yet to verify the cars actual performance values, but they say that the car should be capable of of 260 to 273 mph. Each Aero has a heavily modified Corvette engine which is forced fed by a supercharger which the final result is 1050bhp. It's has a steel space frame and is covered by the carbon fibre body panels.

Lamborghini Murcielago LP-640

Lamborghini Murcielago LP-640Developed from the regular Murcielago, the LP 640 takes its name from the engine postion - - Longitudinale Posteriore - and to its power output of 640 hp. Designers and engineers have not only focused on reworking the engine, suspension, gearbox, exhaust system, brakes and electronics, but also the interior and exterior design; which together are said to make the LP640 '...the most extreme and fastest sports car in its class'. The engine of the LP640 has undergone what is described as 'outstanding and radical' modification. The increased bore and longer stroke have boosted the displacement from 6.2 to 6.5 litres, with the effect of raising the output to 640 horsepower. In stop-watch terms, the new Murcielago achieves zero to 62mph in 3.4 seconds, and a top speed of more than 200mph. Lamborghini engineers have also concentrated on improving torque development. The drivability of the engine is enhanced by a continuous variable timing system (intake and exhaust side) and a drive-by-wire engine management system. Just like its predecessors, the Murcielago LP640 features permanent four-wheel drive, based on the Lamborghini VT (Viscous Traction) system. The system is self-governing and does not feature any electronic controls. The engine torque is usually divided between the front and rear axles in the ratio of 30 to 70, but up to 100 per cent of the torque can be applied to a single axle. The style of the LP640 is characterized by its scissor doors, which are created from the union of sheet steel and honeycombed carbon fibre, glued and riveted together. Driving, handling and stability at high speed are enhanced by new springs and stabilisers, as well as by a redesigned electronically controlled damper. The anti-dive and anti-squat features on the axles, which efficiently prevent so-called brake diving and squatting, have not been changed. The leather upholstery features lozenge-shaped stitching called Q-citura. The same design is recaptured on the upholstery on the door panels, the panel between the seats and the engine compartment, and on the roof panel. A new instrument panel has been developed with lights featuring a new graphic design, flanked by a new Kenwood car radio with a 6.5-inch widescreen monitor and DVD, MP3 and WMA player. The first vehicles will be available from official UK dealerships, Lamborghini London and Lamborghini Manchester, later this year.

Koenigsegg CCX

Koenigsegg CCX 2006 The CCX is the latest iteration of the Koenigsegg CC family. The CCX is in many aspects a new car since it has been re-engineered to comply with the US regulation and market demands. Still, it has been a key issue for the Koenigsegg Team to keep the distinctive and record breaking CC shape. We believe it is important to avoid trends and instead hone the aerodynamic shape of the CC range for the future, only enhancing its unique look and appearance with tighter lines and a more aggressive stance. We also believe in continuity. A new Koenigsegg shall show a clear lineage from its predecessor and shall not follow any other design trends – but enhance its already proven concept and shape to perfection. CCX stands for Competition Coupe X. The CCX commemorates the 10th anniversary of the completion and test drive of the first CC maiden prototype, which rolled out from the R&D Department in 1996.

The CCX features a completely new set of body and interior parts. The new body incorporates a new front bumper design, engineered to function well in the stringent 2.5 mph bumper test, including enhanced brake cooling, fog lamps and US side position lights. The front lamps have been slightly redesigned to suit the new bumper line. There is a new scoop on the front bonnet acting as a larger fresh air-intake for the occupants and new air vents have been added behind the front wheels in order to further evacuate air from the cockpit. The frontal shape revisions now allow for effective track use options to be added

Ferrari F40

The Ferrari F40 was THE car of the 1980s supercar boom. It was THE poster car on the wall of nearly every teenage boy in the world. Its combination of towering performance, aggressive styling and outstanding handling hailed it as one of the best of the era. But it also benefited from the speculative boom in supercar values that drove up demand to unsustainable levels. Just over 1,300 Ferrari F40s were produced over a period of 3 years, making it one of the highest volume ultimate supercars that Ferrari have ever produced.... and still my favourite. I'd have it over any Ferrari any day!The F40 had a light weight of 1100 kg and very high power output of 478 hp @ 7000 rpm. This gave the F40 outstanding acceleration, and a top speed that wouldn't embarrass most supercars of today. Road tests have produced 0-60 times as low as 3.6 seconds, with 0-100mph in 7.6 seconds, just out performing anything on the road at that time. From the time it was introduced in 1987, it held the record as the world's fastest production car, with a top speed of 201 mph; only to be broken by the RUF CTR "Yellowbird" doing 211 mph in 1989 - although the F40 could still outrun the RUF to 60 mph.

With only 20 produced, each 1 Million Euro (without taxes) the 2009 Lamborghini Reventon is a symbol of extreme exclusivity, yet still offering the extraordinary performance that makes the Reventon so unrivalled: under the completely autonomous design, the Reventon possesses the entire technical and dynamic competence of the twelve cylinder Lamborghini. The name Reventon has been chosen according to Lamborghini tradition. Reventon was a fighting bull, owned by the Don Rodriguez family. It is included in the list of the most famous bulls ever and is known for killing the famed bullfighter Felix Guzman in 1943.

Audi impressed me last summer with its redesigned compact A4 — a rare intersection of elegance and driver-friendliness among entry-level luxury cars — but I can't get fired up about the A4's larger sibling, the midsize A6. The elder Audi has no shortage of clever innovations, and its styling is vintage Audi: unassuming at first, then desirable in all its subtleties a day or two later. Alas, for a number of reasons — most of them related to the driving experience — it can't combine driving thrills with cabin quality like a number of its competitors do.

After the parade of electric and plug-in-hybrid vehicles introduced at this year's Detroit auto show, a few questions remain: Do consumers really want plug-in cars, are they willing to pay significantly more to get them, and do they have the patience to wait for the first massproduced ones to hit the market? In December, sales of hybrid cars fell even further than those of gas-powered cars, suggesting that slumping consumer confidence has overtaken a fear of fuel prices in the race to sway car shoppers. Yet early word on pricing for plug-in cars suggests they'll cost significantly more than hybrids and regular gas-powered cars.
